RIGHTS OF THE CHILD IN THE MOST IMPORTANT INTERNATIONAL INSTRUMENTS

Abstract

For decades, it was quite normal and acceptable to speak of protection of children. That was a result of state’s laws, policies and attitudes, which perceived the child as a weak, immature and incapable human being on a path to adulthood. On such path, the child needs adult protection and guidance and society is supposed to feel and act upon solidarity, compassion and reason. In the meantime, while all around the World adults slowly gained recognition of their human rights, children legged behind, having been left in a vast pot of “human beings”
