TERMS OF THE LAW: CONCRETENESS AND HARMONY

Abstract

This article considers one of the topical issues of legislative terminology, which is a legal and semantic feature of the use of terms in rule-making activity. The author discloses linguistic and legal aspects of terms and their semantic harmony in the context of the law based on the example of separate legislative texts in the state language.

The concepts of the semantic harmony and the specificity of terms are defined as the basic principles of unification of legislative terminology which accurately reveal the rule-making essence of certain legal relations. The article discusses the extent of compliance with this conceptual position within legal terms in the national legislation

The conclusion expounds the topical issue of the expansion of terminological fund which in every possible way would promote the development of national legislative linguistics and establishment of qualitatively specified and harmonized legal norms. And it is one of the fundamental directions, which provides the priority opportunities to the state language in legislative linguistics.

Legislative terminology and style of language of laws are the main core of legislative linguistics, which is the new direction in linguistics statement of the main legal questions. Thus the conclusion is that some topical issues of legislative terms raised in the article are logically connected with the formation of legislative linguistics.

Therefore the issue of specificity and harmony of legal terms is considered by the author only within the frame of a fundamental possibility of legislative linguistics.
